Be civilized. (文明)

Various signs along the streets of Shanghai encourage the citizens to be "civilized" or "cultured" (文明).

Example 1:

The text reads:

红灯停 绿灯行 展示的是您的守法 形象和文明风度.
Hóngdēng tíng
lǜdēng xíng
zhǎnshì de shì nín de shǒufǎ xíngxiàng
hé wénmíng fēngdù.

Stop when the light turns red.
Go when the light turns green.
Embody the image of a law-abiding citizen
and of civilized conduct.

Example 2:

"文明在我脚下", 过马路走横道线!
"Wénmíng zài wǒ jiǎoxià",
guò mǎlù zǒu héngdào xiàn!

(Literal) "Civilization is under my feet,"
utilize the crosswalks when crossing the street!

(My translation)  "Walk in a civilized manner," don't jaywalk!

Unfortunately, how often do people actually obey signs?
